Comments: I have experience of the Peter Henderson drones from playing a set extensively and from listening and tuning the number of sets that we have in FMMPB. I have found them to produce a sonorous, resonant sound of excellent quality. The drones are very steady and are quite easy to reed out and what I really like about them, is the excellent bass sound, coupled with well balanced and sympathetic tenors. The quality of these drones matches anything that is out there today and provide the quality and consistency that is required in a band, or solo performer, at any level.

Comments: When I first spoke to Alastair, on the purchase of a new set of Henderson Drones, I had specific requirements, and the silver was sourced from a silversmith. I took delivery of my Henderson drones within the time stated and on the agreed price. I was very impressed with the quality of the workmanship of the drones, the wood has a rich dark depth of colour, with a good grain quality through the pipes and I was not disappointed with the quality of the silver and the way it is mounted! I find the drones easy to reed out, with not taking a lot of air with the quality of sound, being bright and a full bodied tone, also capturing a rich mellow and steady sound, with also being easy to strike in! One year on after purchase, I am very pleased with my Henderson Drones, I would say the drones have improved further, getting even more mellow with great stability and with good after sales on the product.

Comments: I received my Henderson Pipes in early 2007. I found the drones easy to reed and very steady which is what you need for Competition. In 2007 I won the Silver Medal at the Northern Meetings and the A grade March at the Argyllshire Gathering, qualifying for the former Winners at the Argyllshire Gathering. I have certainly enjoyed playing the pipes and would recommend them for anyone at any level right up to the top level of competition.

Comments: Having been happy with my previous set of pipes, I at first wasn’t that interested in trying out a new set of pipes but eventually did so when Alastair showed me the new Henderson’s. Needless to say upon trying the Henderson pipes for the first time I was blown away and never played a note on my old set again. In fact, I sold them soon afterwards and have been delighted with the Henderson’s ever since. The balance between bass and tenor is excellent, they are easy to reed and tune, but they also give off that beautiful ring and fullness of sound that is normally only associated with the very finest of vintage sets. Excellent pipes!

Comments: Having played the Peter Henderson drones since 2007 in the Field Marshal Montgomery setup, I have found the drones not only incredibly easy to reed, but produce a rich voluminous tone. The exceptional materials and skillful craftsmanship are second to none and I have no reservations recommending this product for pipers of any skill level. I commend Alastair on his development of these outstanding pipes.

The Peter Henderson solo pipe chanter easily reaches modern pitch unlike any other; balances well with a myriad of reed makes and has superb tone, an invaluable product from a world class team.
